The Story
Since 2016 Sono Motors has been on a pioneering mission to accelerate the revolution of mobility by making every vehicle solar. Its disruptive solar technology has been developed to enable seamless integration into all types of vehicles to reduce the impact of CO2 emissions and pave the way for climate-friendly mobility.
Today, an experienced team of engineers, designers, technicians, and industry experts are developing and building future-oriented solutions that enable both the everyday person as well as businesses to benefit from climate-friendly mobility. Sono Motors is developing the world’s first solar electric vehicle (SEV) for the masses, the Sion and expects to enter series production in 2023.
Empowered by a strong community, Sono Motors has amassed more than 16,800 reservations with advance payments for the Sion. Its proprietary solar technology is also something that the company is not only keeping for themselves, having been developed to enable integration and licensing for a wide range of vehicle architectures that go far beyond the Sion.
Success Factor | Hero Moment
From a garage to the New York stock market. In November 2021 the company successfully went public on the NASDAQ global market in the USA. Sono Motors will use the proceeds of the IPO to drive development of its technology and build a Sion fleet for series testing, validation and certification. Going public was a huge step towards the company’s goal of equipping every vehicle with solar technology and delivering the Sion to its Community.
