The Story

IKEA is making Vienna a global pioneer: At Westbahnhof, a sustainable, innovative, inviting furniture store is being built with green facades and plenty of space for people – from appealing gastronomy to a generally accessible, green rooftop terrace. The entire seven-story building is designed for pedestrians, cyclists, subway, and streetcar riders – There is no space for cars.

Success Factor | Hero Moment

Already in the planning phase, the store IKEA Wien Westbahnhof, receives the world's first GREENPASS® Platinum certificate for its sustainable contribution to a more livable city. GREENPASS® is the first international certification standard for climate resilience. It analyzes, optimizes and evaluates a total of six urban topics with a focus on open space: climate, water, air, biodiversity, energy and costs.
