The Story

Founded by Jesus Chavez, a Mexican American environmentalist, CACTO was created with sustainability as a guiding principle, and it directs all processes involved in the company, from sourcing of materials, production, packaging, and shipping. The company offsets 150% of the CO2 emissions it generates in its entire operation and plans to offset 1000% of emissions by the end of the year. CACTO offers a sustainable, carbon negative, and ethical alternative to citizens in need of lifestyle accessories across 190 countries. The products are made with cactus leather developed in Mexico. Cactuses are terrific carbon sinks, with 8,100 tons of CO2/year being absorbed by the 14 acres farm owned by the developer while only generating 15.30 tons of CO2 annually in the production of the material. The lining they use is made of 100% bamboo fiber through a high-tech process. This material is completely biodegraded. CACTO is the first Carbon Negative fashion Brand in the Americas.

Success Factor | Hero Moment

A decisive factor in the success of the brand is the awareness that has been raised globally by countless climate heroes. They are responsible for a bold change of behaviors across all levels of human activity to reduce CO2 emissions. They have forced with the power of their wallets, big corporations to embrace change, because now there is a clear economic benefit attached to corporate climate action. Cacto is able to show that small businesses can have bold climate action and still be global and successful.
