The Story

Tulln an der Donau, a Lower Austrian town of about 18.800, has set itself to embark on a future of sustainable mobility and developed an ambitious project to provide its citizens with a variety of affordable options for climate friendly mobility. LISA Tulln (LISA is short for “leicht/easy– intelligent –sauber/clean – attractive”) aims to combine existing mobility services with newly implemented services for citizens and visitors. The key feature is LISA Tulln Shuttle a demand responsive, flexible and electric shuttle service to compliment the public transport (bus and train) and to provide a transport mode for the first and last mile. LISA Tulln Shuttle can be booked via app as well as call-centre and is designed to be accessible for everybody, including people with special mobility needs.

In addition to the shuttle, mobility hubs connecting public transport, the shuttle service, cycling facilities and sharing services (e-cars
and bikes) will be built in strategic locations (train stations, points of interest) throughout the town.

Success Factor | Hero Moment

The development of the project was a success in terms of the collaboration of different stakeholders who in a joint effort found ways and means to realize the many ideas of the project group. The strong regional cooperation between provincial and local government contributed to tackle the global challenge of bridging the last and first mile in an individual, comfortable, innovative, smart and tailor-made way.
